Economical & Accurate Laser Suspension Measurement

Instructions

  1. Place the vehicle on a level surface and make sure it is settled at its normal ride height.
  2. Measure off from one left and right symmetric point on the front end and make a mark on the floor in front of vehicle.
  3. Once you have both floor marks on each side of the front end, either draw a line across the front of vehicle or place a straight edge across front touching both lines.
  4. With a sturdy camera tripod that includes a vertical up/down swivel and attachable laser (laser can be purchased at most hardware stores), position the laser between two legs of the tripod as shown and find the center of the vehicle.
  5. Find the center by swiveling the laser up and down and adjusting tripod until laser dot is touching two vehicle center points simultaneously. Once the center is found, swivel the laser down to the floor and mark the center point with a zero.
  6. Now you can move the tripod from left to right with the legs even with the vehicle perpendicular line and tilt down to suspension measurement points, allowing you to get all of the width measurements needed.
  7. Once the suspension point is found, swivel the laser down to the floor line then measure to the zero point that was made earlier and record the measurement for input into the Performance Calculator suspension section.
